HUBER+SUHNER Polatis all-optical switches enable dynamic connectivity directly at the fibre layer, with outstanding reliability and the industry's lowest optical loss. Our products allow the efficient management of ever-increasing data volumes and are a key building block in the evolution towards software defined networks.

In this role, you’ll be working within a multi-disciplinary development team to design and develop the next generation of optical switch products. Responsibilities include:

  • Design & development of optical switch core technology
  • Analysis and test of precision micro-mechanical designs
  • Integration / packaging of sub-assemblies
  • Performance improvements to existing products
  • Liaison with internal departments and external suppliers

Your profile

To be successful you'll need to have a degree in mechanical engineering or a related subject, plus approximately 3 to 5 years' relevant experience working in a high-tech design/development environment.  You'll have a hands-on, innovative, approach to work and be self-motivated and focussed on delivery.  You'll also have excellent 3D CAD, finite element analysis and PDM skills and be proficient in precision opto-mechanical and electro-mechanical design.  Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.

Familiarity with high reliability micro-fabrication techniques is highly desirable.
