Your tasks

The Fiber Optics (FO) Testing Laboratory supports the internal testing for all the FO Divisions and Business Units including Product and Project Development, Quality, Qualification and Requalification, among others. In this challenging function, you will be responsible for planning, conducting and following-up with internal customers on a wide range of optical, optical-mechanical, thermal and longevity experiments. It is your task to conduct technical discussions with internal customers, coordinate all the resources needed to complete the tests, discuss all technical details of the required norms for each test with the Standardization Manager, and to drive the quality and performance of the laboratory with a “Continuous Improvement” mentality.

The FO Testing Laboratory works closely together with the Standardization Manager to ensure that all tests are conducted per the latest revision of norms, and that test reports also fulfill the norms and the requirements from our clients. You will need to become very knowledgeable in a wide variety of standards and norms, most of them written in English.

The FO Testing Laboratory is a very dynamic environment in constant demand for the implementation of methods to improve performance and quality. This mindset requires a basic understanding of fiber optics, fiber optic communications, methods of measurements and data handling, and the basics of excel programming among others. This constant challenge brings great opportunities for learning and implementing diverse initiatives of optical measurement equipment and data processing.

Your profile

We are in the search for a personality with a “think outside of the box” mindset. You have a solid background in communications, preferably in fiber optics, but copper is also acceptable, and a technical education (Bachelor or similar level). You bring experience in conducting measurements and experiments (hands-on mentality), and writing technical reports in a professional fashion. You feel comfortable maintaining a continuous line of communication with the internal customers, the same as with your colleagues at the testing facilities, as planning and resourcing are constantly adjusted as needed.

In addition, you have also a strong communication ability and natural assertiveness. German language skills are required for the day-to-day work. English skills are required for interpretation of the norms and the compiling of the test reports.

Your perspective

You can expect a well-integrated and motivated team, the same as very interesting tasks and challenges from a dynamic environment in a global-agile company.
