HUBER+SUHNER Polatis is the world’s leading manufacturer of high performance all-optical switch solutions for software-defined optical networks, enabling dynamic connectivity directly at the fibre layer in telecom, datacentre, test, video and secure applications.

In this key role, you will report directly to the Head of Operations, overseeing the entire production process in the UK, drawing up a production schedule and participating in the MPS.  You will ensure that all our production is cost effective, drafting timescales, establishing milestones and setting quality standards.  You will need to work effectively across the business, building good relationships with key people and ensuring close co-operation with your peers as well as other departments within the company.

You’ll be responsible for: 
  • Participating fully in the design road map process
  • Ensuring the necessary resources and equipment are available to meet targets
  • Monitoring the production processes and adjusting schedules as needed
  • Monitoring product standards and implementing corrective actions where necessary
  • Ensuring that health and safety guidelines are followed without exception
  • Motivating a team of workers to plan and take accountability for product delivery

Your profile

To be successful, you’ll need to be qualified to at least degree level in an engineering discipline (or be qualified by experience) as well as have substantial experience of electronics manufacturing with at least 5 years at manager level.  You should also have demonstrable experience of working in a high mix, low volume environment, producing electronic high value reliable products and bringing complex products to market using recognised NPI processes and controls.

You’ll be a self-starter and know what good looks like, constantly striving to improve deliver on revenue targets, with low levels of backlog and short forecast horizon.  Employee development is a key part of this role so proven experience in leading, coaching and mentoring and building high performing teams is a must.
