Your tasks
In this new role, you’ll be working within a multi-disciplinary development team to design and develop core technology for our optical switches. This will cover the complete design cycle from concept through to manufacturing release in addition to providing support for the Polatis range of photonic switch products. Your responsibilities will include:
Hardware Architecture and system design
Design and implementation of electronic hardware , using schematic capture, for both digital and analogue circuits
Use of Modelling tools to validate designs and concepts
Validation testing and qualification
Support of NPI and Manufacturing teams
Your profile
To be successful, you’ll need to have a degree in electronic or electrical and electronic engineering, plus a minimum of five years’ relevant experience. You’ll have a hands-on, innovative approach to work and be self-motivated and focussed on delivery. You will possess strong Digital and Analogue design skills used in the implementation of circuit designs employing: DAC/ADC, sensors, low-noise/low-power amplifier and power circuits. Experience in developing scalable and robust Hardware architectures and developing complex designs using a mixture of analogue and digital electronics will be required. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential. Whilst people management is not a pre-requisite for this position, there is an opportunity to progress into the leadership role of the Hardware Design Team, so an aptitude and interest in leadership is desirable.
Desirable but not essential skills include: high-speed digital design, DSP, FPGA (VHDL), Firmware, telecommunications systems, and design for EMC.
Your perspective
