Financial leadership function at H+S Astrolab Inc. including development of the Finance/Controlling department. As head of finance and accounting and IT, it ensures the correct and timely execution of all financial tasks and provides an adequate reporting and meaningful analysis in order to ensure that the management and the other managers at any time have an overview of the financial situation of the company and optimal assistance to control the business. The job holder is a member of the management team of HUBER + SUHNER Astrolab and participates actively in the management of the company. Partners with Managing Director in advising/coaching others on financial awareness and guidelines with the Company. Oversight of IT systems and local issues.

Strategic Planning
Participates in local strategic planning
Develops and monitors overall financial plan (p/l, b/s, cash)
Develops, monitors and enhances local tax strategy
Develops, monitors and enhances local risk management
Develops, monitors and enhances local strategy, including inventory,
Develops, monitors and enhances internal control strategy
Develops, monitors and enhances corporate tax strategy
Performs market, product and competitive analysis of standard gross profit

Provides oversight and direction to accounting functions
Prepares monthly and year-end closing according IFRS including reporting and monthly disclosure requirement to the Group Headquarter (via Cognos)
Responsible for the Accounting Department (accounts receivables incl. collection and DSO reduction, accounts payables, fixed assets, payroll, accounting schedules, etc.,)
Performs cash management, bank reconciliation and local bank relationship, including Costa Rica subsidiary oversight
Costing accounting, standard costing and controlling according H+S standard costing model and responsible for oversight for reporting cost & pricing data in accordance with government DFARS flow-downs (CAPA)
Ensures full GAAP compliance
Ensures compliance with all local regulation in particular tax filings (income and non-income taxes); support pro-active tax-planning

Financial Analysis & Management Reporting
Ensures sound management of all financial & statutory aspects of the Costa Rica legal entity (incl. export compliance, intercompany charges)
Coordinate efficient ‘real time’ financial monitoring and projection to support early issue-detection and action solutions
Advises management on all financial matters and cost effective solutions
Provides direction on report and analytical needs.
Designs Management reports
Designs Financial Statements: historical & projections.
Maintains Performance Measurements
Develops Action Plans

Develops Budget targets and other financial plans
Facilitates budget process: accountability, schedule
Prepares budgets & forecasts

Internal Controls / Audit
Designs and review Policies and Procedures
Reviews Internal Control system
Manages Auditor relationship
Develops Action Plans relative to internal control needs
Adheres to Capex controlling
Supports local Transfer Pricing Documentation in cooperation with Group Headquarter
Staff Management/Leadership
Coaches and advises direct reports on staff management
Ensures staff reviews are completed timely and accurately
Directs organizational operations, projects, or services
Provides leadership and management according to the H+S leadership principles
Adheres to all regulations and guidelines contained in the Global Management System

Your profile

Bachelor’s Degree Accounting, Finance, or related field with 10 years financial experience in manufacturing in an ERP environment
Master’s Degree or related graduate degree strongly preferred
CPA, CMA, or similar professional certification strongly preferred
